Dinga is our 9 year old Staffordshire Terrier (yes she's a pit bull-type doggle).  She makes me laugh constantly... like when she's randomly upside down as you come around the corner... or "talking" to us because we aren't throwing her ball... She has a big personality...I wonder where she could get that from?

Pinterest Test #1: Carpets

Today begins the first in a little series of testing some cleaning ideas I found on Pinterest.  Do you guys pin? I looooooove it.  You can find and follow me here.

I saw this method for cleaning carpets one day on Pinterest, and thought I'd try it out on a stain that has been persistently troublesome for... pfffft... at least a year in front of our bathroom... I was pretty pleasantly surprised by how it worked!!

All you need is your iron, a spray bottle with the ammonia/water mix (50/50 ammonia and HOT water) and some white rags.  Mine are old tanks and t-shirts that I cut up periodically.

Spray your stain liberally, place the white cloth over top, and iron! You'll start to see the soil come through the cloth... here's what mine looked like after:

Give it a try!  You can find the original blog post here where she uses this on a RED carpet with what seems like little color transfer.  Might be good to test an inconspicuous area first if you're nervous about colored carpeting.

Hi friends,
I realize that it's actually NOT this time of year, because it's February (really, it's almost March!!!) and not January, but bear with me.  I had the best of intentions (cross my heart) to do a great 'Year in Photos 2011' post highlighting each month, but life got in the way and here we are.  Never fear!  I decided to hopefully post a monthly look back at my life from the year before. I know, you're pumped. We get to re-live last year each month!

C. Chore that you hate: Dishes... thank goodness husband doesn't mind and we have a dishwasher.
D. Dogs: one pit bull (technically a Staffordshire Terrier) named Dinga
E. Essential start to your day: chamomile tea, e-mails and catching up on a little Facebook (I know....)
F. Favorite color: Green
G. Gold or Silver: Gold please. White gold, Rose gold, Yellow gold, I like 'em all. 

H. Height: 5’4"-ish
I. Instruments you play: This girl is not musically inclined.
J. Job title: Business Support Generalist a.k.a. Budget Manager

M. Mother’s name: Barbara (Interesting note, my due date was my mother's birthday and had I not been 2 weeks late, I would have also been named Barbara)
N. Nicknames: Jenny, Jen, Jennaynay, Jenny from the Block, when I was younger it was Jenny-fur
O. Overnight hospital stays: Only when I was born, thankfully.
P. Pet peeves:

Q. Quote from a movie: Oh gosh, just one?  I must love every line from Anchorman and The Hangover, they make me laugh so hard.

S. Siblings: one younger sister, Jamie, 16 years my junior

T. Time you wake up: Typically between 6 and 7.  I get up for work between 5:30 and 6 most days.
U. Underwear: Look interwebz friends, it's too soon in our relationship to discuss my skivvies.
V. Vegetable you hate: Onions. Eggplant.
W. What makes you run late: I am my worst enemy when it comes to getting out of the house a) quickly and b) on time.  There are just SO MANY distractions!
X. X-Rays you’ve had: Teeth are all I can really think of certainly.  I have had an endoscopy done on my stomach, but I'm not sure that counts.
Y. Yummy food that you make: I really like to cook, so this will be hard.  I love to make soups.  Husband loves lasagna and always gives me the thumbs up.  Basically anything made from scratch, it's just sooo much better!

A few fun facts about me to get us started, new internet friends: 

• I love lists, listing things, and then crossing said things off
• I love dogs, and you will soon get to meet our dog, Dinga.
• I am originally from Niagara Falls, NY but no, I have not been over the falls in a barrel.
• I like being crafty, the trials and tribulations of which I plan to share with you here.
• I love love love taking photographs and documenting my life.  I hope for this blog to help me with that. 
• I'm married to the fabulous Mr. Brown and we live in beautiful Vermont.
